  Call for Papers of The Fourth International Conference on Mahdism Doctrine

Peace be with Mahdi, by whom God will fill the earth with justice and equity.

Today, in the third millennium of history, as the result of testing and abandoning many modern theories, scholars and experts have witnessed the manifestation of a new stage upon which to present fresh ideas and theories in the fields of law and politics regarding the concept of Messianism.
In light of this, religious thinkers are presented with a unique opportunity to express their opinions and suppositions within the context of the rich doctrine of Mahdism and Saviorism. We cordially invite all theorists and scholars to participate in the fourth international conference, The Doctrine of Mahdism with a Legal and Political Approach and to send their articles and essays on the following suggested topics:

A. Theoretical Discussions:
1. Mahdism and theorization in the domain of law and politics (foundations and potentials).
2. Methodology in the legal and political discussions (discourse, hermeneutical method, positivistic method).
3. Comparative study of legal and political concepts in contemporary thought and in view of the doctrine of Mahdism (right and obligation, justice, authority, legitimacy, liberty, equality, etc).
4. Comparison of Islamic and Western viewpoints on Messianism and eschatology (End of history, Clash of civilizations, etc).
5. Comparative studies on the Governance of Imam Mahdi (Pbuh) and contemporary models of governments (democracy, etc).
6. Human rights and the doctrine of Mahdism (human dignity, right of self-determination, rights of minorities, women’s rights, children\'s right, etc).
7. Humanitarian rights in the light of the doctrine of Mahdism (the principle of retaliation, rights of captives, belligerent rights, rights of the wounded, preservation of the environment, etc).
8. Messianism and theories of international relations (idealism, realism, convergence, divergence, etc).
9. Messianism and world peace and security (function of Messianism in the expansion of world peace, the crisis of peace and security at the threshold of the appearance of Imam Mahdi (Pbuh), investigation into the doctrine of massacre propounded by some traditions, etc).
10. Geopolitics of the world after the appearance of Imam Mahdi (Pbuh), (conditions of the borders, nationalities, etc).

B. Applied Discussions:
1. Role of Messianism in codifying strategical policies of countries (the document relating to a twenty-year perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, etc).
2. The government laying the ground works for the appearance of Imam (goals, characteristics and efforts in the scientific, cultural, executive, judicial and legislative fields, etc).
3. The society awaiting the appearance of the Savior (study of political, social and cultural conditions for the realization of the appearance, aspects, efforts, etc).
4. Political-social pathology of the culture of awaiting the appearance (damages, errors, consequences, etc).
5. Function of the doctrine of awaiting in awakening nations and the formation of contemporary political movements.
6. Position of political-legal institutions in the universal government of Imam Mahdi (Pbuh). (Political parties, councils, national and local organizations, etc).

Explanations:
1- Those interested should forward an abstract or a summary of their articles (maximum 500 words and in Microsoft Word Format) written in English, Arabic or Persian to the secretary of the Seminar for consideration by the scientific committee of the institute preferably via E-mail by April 5, 2008.
2- Researchers whose abstracts or article summaries are accepted by the BF Institute should forward their articles written in one of the above-mentioned languages (maximum 6,000 words and in Microsoft Word Format) to the secretary of the Seminar for the final review via E-mail or in a diskette form by April 20, 2008.
3- Articles with a closer content to proposed titles will be accepted by the scientific committee.
4- Articles should not have been published in other publications or even released to other seminars previously held in Iran. The accepted articles will be later published in a book and the rights of their authors will be acknowledged.
5- The conference will be held on August 14 and 15, 2008 in Tehran at the auditorium of Islamic leaders’ conference.
6- The interested people should complete the registration form in the conference website and send it to the secretary of the Seminar.

8- The institute shall undertake to pay for expenses (i.e. ticket and accommodation) relating to journey to Iran (excluding visa fee) for those whose articles are accepted.
9- In the case of acceptance an article, we will require extra information such as Iranian Visa application form, a copy of Passport and a photograph from those who living abroad.
10- All mentioned dates are fixed, but there is the possibility that the date of the conference might be rescheduled a day or two sooner or later in which case it will be announced.
